From what my friends were saying, I figured I'd have to fly solo on Dragoncon or meet up with some of them minus the kids.

Hadn't thought about what our library has. Sometimes they hire a new branch manager with an interest in doing things like that. We went to Momocon quite a while ago, and she was very excited - didn't seem agitated at all. But momocon is/was much smaller than Dragoncon. Honestly, I think my partner was more freaked out than she was. He grew up in the South. This was very much outside his comfort zone.
