"Oh, no. It's innocence. Don't try to sugarcoat it, Potter. You claimed you don't know why someone would create an object as horrible as that quill--that alone speaks volumes about your level of innocence." Draco's voice sounded a bit dull and toneless...but at least it lacked the usual scathing, haughty tone. "But that's beside the point, I suppose." Harry never did seem like the type to see the worst in things. Yet another area where they differed. Draco was a pessimist, through and through. His violent and tumultuous upbringing made him cold and distant, unwilling to open up and unwilling to trust other people. He was quick to pick up on the worst qualities of the people around them and latch onto them--this was what made him such a successful bully.

Harry's question caught the blonde off-guard. He did not turn to face the Gryffindor--rather, the blonde only swiveled a bit in his seat and turned an unblinking sideways stare on him. His expression was carefully guarded. "The properties of murtlap tentacles were covered briefly in both Potions and Care of Magical Creatures." A hint of wariness infused itself into his voice. It was likely a futile effort, he knew. After all, he greatly doubted that Harry had forgotten the scene he stumbled upon in Hogsmeade. The Malfoy heir seemed to have taken a turn for the worse in terms of friendliness--he was so open just moments before. And now...the intimidating wall of ice encasing Draco Malfoy, which had already begun to melt in this abandoned classroom, was starting to freeze over again.

He didn't even know what he wanted anymore. Why was he even here, helping his own worst enemy lick the wounds he received because he had to be a dolt and open his big mouth in front of a Ministry puppet? It was as if some invisible force willed him to stay. He couldn't budge an inch, even if he wanted to put as much distance between himself and Harry as humanly possible. He had enough problems to worry about without adding this awkward encounter to the list. Perhaps...in the long run, it would be more prudent to have Harry as a reluctant ally rather than a stone-faced enemy. But for god's sake, how did he even go about doing such a thing? Him, a disturbed, friendless, and admittedly mean-spirited son of a Death Eater--befriend Harry Potter? How ludicrous.

Where would he even begin...? God, he hoped his confusion didn't show on his face...

Ginny's face split wide open in a smile. She eagerly shuffled forward to accept and heartily return Hermione's hug...but that smile dissipated some once the brunette pulled away from the embrace. Her slightly downtrodden expression only lasted for a few seconds before flip-flopping completely. "Really?" She sounded incredulous. "You've really never written a love letter before? Never actually fancied someone as much as you fancy this guy?" Ginny chuckled good-naturedly and patted Hermione on the arm. "That's okay. I've written a few, myself." She suddenly paused, and then she hastily added, "Don't tell Ron." Ron was far too overprotective for his own good. Putting Ron out of her mind, Ginny rose from her seat, brushing her robes off. "We should go to the library together after all of our classes are done. I'll help you write the perfect love letter!"
