"How does that feel... to be satisfied like that?" Clark asked, a small sadness in his eyes. He almost envied her, to not question anything, to be content with where you are in the world, right at your birth. How many lives could he have lived, but didn't, when he left home to go for a life on the seas? Stability. That was what the princess had that he didn't have. Did he want stability, though? Stability meant that he would just stay home as a shoemaker, maybe start a family, and die where he lived. All in the same place. The same old, same old. His father owned the shoe store, and his grandfather before him.

"Marriage..." Her words brought him out of his thoughts. "Do you know him? What he likes? What he hates?" Clark was always baffled when royalty married out of love. Then again, the idea of love was still a concept beyond him. Whatever love he had is saved for his ship and his parents. Nothing more.

Speaking of which, where was Gerard? 'He's probably still injured... I hope that serving girl didn't off 'im.'

Ariel woke up with a gasp. Her head was pounding and she was slightly confused as to why she was on Gerard's cot. The last thing she remembered was apologizing over and over. She placed a hand on her head, breathing out a sigh of annoyance directed at herself. She began to whale on herself for drinking again until she looked next to her and she found Gerard. Her eyes traced over his rugged features as her thoughts began to quell. At least this was someone she could distract her thoughts with.

She got up, slowly, and looked over the bandages. They were soaked through again but at least the chair was nearby. She stood up, wobbled a bit, and rifled through the chest to find new bandages. The wound wasn't bleeding as much as when it was fresh, so that was a good sign.
