Both the man and the princess jumped up to see what the cause of the sound might be.
As they stepped out the door and their eyes adjusted to the darkness of the night they could just barely make out the shapes of something moving in the faint light of the moon.
Neither of them could identify what the shapes were but they did not appear to to be human.
The pair quickly decided to retreat back into the safety of the house to light torches and find some sort of weapons to use to defend themselves in case they might need them.
