Having gotten updates from the surgeon and calling for updates myself several times during the night she seemed to be ready to come home in the morning. The earliest pick up appointment they had was 0930.
0730 I get a phone call from the on call surgeon saying that she is ready to come home and she is resting comfortably. I am so unbelievably thrilled and relieved to take out this phone call you cannot even imagine. I felt so selfish putting her through this surgery just so she would be here with me longer.
I ride early to pick her up, it's a 40 minute drive to the animal hospital. And in that time she slips into critical condition. The critical condition doctor says that I can visit with her and she seems fine and she's fighting to come with me. They have a harness to the wall on the floor in what they call the beach it's an open Bay area where all the animals are. I feel like I'm upsetting her so I tell her I love her rest and get better and I'll be back to see her tomorrow.
