it looks like house geckos are considered invasive where you are Ziggie! but still widespread and part of the ecosystem enough already that you could probably release it again without consequence. they like urban areas, so you could probably even leave him under a bush in a park or in a potted plant somewhere! but they also like the edges of wooded areas where there are a lot of short trees, shrubs, shade, and bugs. if you're feeding him, guidelines say the food shouldn't be any bigger than the space between their eyes, so flightless fruit flies are recommended.
