Yeah I know what you mean. When I lived with my aunt in her town it was WAY different from the 'ghetto' that I was used to. Oh the sheltered kids lol. But I'm all grown up now, or so I keep telling myself, and I get to choose what I listen too.
Though I must admit that what everyone else likes can influence you every once in a while.
Though back on topic. People tend to like whats 'in' because it makes them like everyone else, even if what's 'in' is something completely different then what they like. Sadly my little sister is a generic kid as well. She like Nelly and The Rascal Flats and Paramore. I'm so sad for her.
