To reply to your question, you can only bump your thread back up if it's completely fallen off the first page. If it's still on the first page, you just have to wait.
I know. It sucks sometimes. >.O I have that problem with my exchange thread. Just watching it slooooowly drift to the bottom of the page... Sloooowly...
