I'm thinking maybe a Parrot of some type... since if I remember right they mate for life, and they're kinda common in zoos :) --- How close was I? ^^

Glowing brightly up so high
How is it you reach the sky?
I gaze up and see you fly
During the daylight oh so shy

You shimmers lightly every night
Dusk to dawn you take flight
Able to be seen alright
Until the sun is in sight
