Grace chuckled. "I'll show you where the showers are, and then we can get some food into you if you like." she offered, waving him after her. When he gestured to his face, asking if it was a problem, Grace smiled. "It's okay here. This place is meant for people like us." she stated, and gestured to the room around them. At a far table was a girl who's hair floated, tentacle-like, around her head. A man with an eye in the middle of his forehead sat at another, eating a bowl of soup, a cowboy hat perched on the table beside him.
"I'm not as obvious as some people...but I'm a mutant too." she admitted. "I work thread." she added, and held out a hand. There was a little ball of string in it. It unwound itself, and made itself into a little person shape, walking around on her hand. "If you need anything patched up or taken in, I'm your gal." she chuckled, and put the bit of thread into her pocket again. "That goes for cuts and scrapes too. I can't heal you, but I'm trained in first aid, so I can at least help you heal yourself." she assured him.
Then she waved it away. "But that's later. First, we'll get you a shower and some chow, huh?" Grace chuckled. The little glowing fellow wasn't much younger than her...maybe a couple of years, but he was shorter. She didn't meet many guys shorter than her. At five six, Grace was only barely above average herself. But she supposed as a mutant, he probably had some kind of power to keep him out of trouble...looking the way he did, he would be a target...for other mutants as well as normals.
Grace waved him after her, and led him away from the main group of people taking advantage of the shelter's main room. "That's the door to the clinic, if you need anything. It's a free clinic, open all the time. Kitchen's are always open, and you can do laundry over there..." she stated, pointing to a small room with a single washer and dryer. "We get donations of clothes and stuff, so if you need anything, I can help you find it." she added, and stopped at another door. "This is the showers. You can leave your stuff in one of the lockers and lock it up until you're done. We discourage stealing here...it's mostly free, but we know you probably have stuff you'd like to keep track of. So go ahead, and when you're done, I can find you a bunk...or you can have a bite to eat and move on. It's up to you." Grace promised. They didn't force people to stay...but some people did.

Delaney watched Grace lead the petite and grubby redhead down the hall towards the showers, and smiled. What a sweetheart. she mused absently. Then she frowned slightly. Delaney could always sense those around her...their emotions, at any rate. But that mutant...the one with Grace. He didn't feel like anything at all. Like a void. A blank place in the world. Delaney frowned. She didn't want that one to stay...she was uncomfortable with him even being in the building...but she had no real reason to make him leave. Perhaps he would simply go in his own time...
