When you accidentally double post, you can simply use the report function to report it and a mod will find and delete it for you. It happens a few times per day.
As far as thread necroing, that primarily depends on the forum. If it's a slow forum (debates, media, etc) then there isn't much of a necroing rule, since the topics aren't moving that fast so you can reply to them at any time.

In some forums where the subject matter remains relatively unchanged, or the forum is very small (debates for example), necroing is not an issue. In the Books and Media forums which have thread directories, you're allowed to post in any of the threads listed, regardless of age.
