It gets to a point where instruments are damaged in the rain. Brass instruments are generally okay and so are the snares and bass drums. But woodwinds and the pit percussion REALLY shouldn't be used when it is raining. And they never called the competition. It really should have been called and postponed until next weekend. I really don't know why they didn't call it.
Even as an audience member I was soaking wet....even with an umbrella. I can't imagine the poor kids.
