They were talking about her like she wasn't there, which wasn't really an unusual thing her life. How could things have gone so wrong? All her life she believed the world to be full of good, why wouldn't it be? People were fed, the king was kind, and the war had been over for years. Her wrist hurt, she dress was dirtied and bloodied, and she was sure her eyes were red and puffy. Finally she was out of tears, unable to produce anything. To that point she felt like she needed something to drink but she wouldn't ask, wouldn't give the brute the satisfaction. No, she would suffer in silence, not saying a word, not eating a single meal, until he apologized for his rude behavior. Not that she would forgive him, never could she do that, but it didn't matter.

She wouldn't be worth much to her father if she starved to death.

Gerard polished off the meal on his plate, sitting back, content for a moment. He had went to raise his arms above his head, wincing as he pulled on his wound. It still ached, but at least it wasn't bleeding, and the meal had stopped him from feeling quite so woozy. "She'll get over it soon enough, best to not bother." He wasn't no expert in women by any means, but in his experience, he found that women often got over it with enough time. Not all, of course. He had a scar from a lady who refused to let one such thing go.

"What port are we headed to, Cap?" He was sure they wouldn't go too far, it was best to get their ransom note to the king quickly, before he could send out ships to search for them. Not willing to let the food go to waste he grabbed Ariel's plate, digging in. She wasn't eating it anyways.
