I don't know the actual mechanics of it or anything, but the experience of drawing with a tablet is quite like drawing with pen and paper. XD; At least, to me it is.

You have a flat surface (the tablet itself) and the stylus (like a pen). You apply stylus to tablet and draw. Very simple. :3

Granted, you aren't looking at the juncture of where stylus meets tablet surface and watching it being drawn that way - instead, your eyes are focused on your computer screen. So you watch the little cursor indicator (whatever it looks like in your art program) do the stroke instead of the stylus.

Since I used to color with a mouse all the time, the transition was not difficult for me at all. But for some artists it's more difficult to make the transition. Certainly if I haven't been using it for awhile, the 'feel' of using a tablet takes awhile to get used to again, but it's not bad....
