I usually prefer to play hetero relationships so if you're up for playing a dude we could do something romance related. Your plot idea for a romance sounds good to me but if you don't mind I'd like my character to be the one hospitalized. Or they both could be if you wanted yours to be as well. If they were best friends, perhaps they were driving somewhere together when their car got into an accident. That could add a bit of a drama element to it as well if the character who was driving was at fault and felt guilty about hospitalizing their friend or if the passenger friend was mad at the driver, etc.
