L tucked the candy back into his pocket when she graciously declined it. He nodded knowingly before smiling as their hands touched. She confessed that it would be the greatest journey of her life with that soft voice of hers . . . and Laiden was glad to have their arms brushing. The moment was so peaceful . . . he really did enjoy the gentle way they bumped elbows as the ship tossed lightly.
There was a bit of a frightening moment when L reached out to steady Scarlett: a wave rocked the ship mightily, making the rigging creak with their combined weight. Joseph didn't think much about it, but he found himself suddenly steadying Scarlett by keeping himself close to her. She was nestled just against him, and he couldn't help but think that her hair smelled faintly of the soaps he's smelled in Tortuga.
"M'kay," L watched Scarlett tease her bottom lip before easing himself back to the deck. His hand swiftly sought hers to help her get down as well. He was eager for the contact - he didn't get much of it around Fenris. Fenris never was the fathering type; he was a guardian with an expression that scared away most trouble.
As they headed back toward the hall, L kept his hand loosely linked with Scarlett's. "Still cold?" he asked, coughing to the side before glancing toward the captain's quarters. The dim lighting meant that they weren't being watched . . . hopefully. His anxiety suddenly rose, and he pulled Scarlett toward the hold a bit more quickly than he had been earlier.
