Mara glanced anxiously at the small store that was in a dimly lit corner of the street. She quickened her pace, hearing the sirens in the distance. She wondered if it would be smart to blend into the crowd but knew she would stand out like an elephant in a room.. This is why she never went out- she was a magnet for bad company. If she hadn't lived such a sheltered life, then maybe things would be different for her. Amara was so used to running from trouble, not being a part of it, that she never really... lived.

Wishing she had the guts to cross the street and walk into the vigorous club she had seen from her flat, she cringed. What would her parents think... but was she really this pitiful? Maybe just for a few minutes, until the law enforcement had left. Besides, her parents wouldn't want her to ruin their.. reputation in society, right? Mara laughed half-heartedly and strode across the street. A club couldn't be that demeaning.. but she hesitated at the daunting double doors, remembering the article she had read earlier. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.
