You can start pineapple trees from the tops you cut off of fresh pineapples. :) that's how we started ours. The best pears are Danjou which is what we planted. I think I planted the seeds my senior year in high school and it's just now really starting to produce fruit. many fruit trees take 5-6 years from seed to start bearing fruit. Some are different though.
You can grow all sorts of things in your house and on the patio. ;D
