Rosemary closed her eyes and braced herself for the pain of impact, but it never came. Instead, she felt arms cradling her, and the feeling of floating. Her eyes popped open and she looked up to see a man- though, he was so unearthly beautiful that to call him a mere man would be a disservice. He had caught her by some miracle, and landed so gracefully on the ground that she barely felt it. For a moment, in her stunned mind, she was sure that she had died already and that this man was an angel bringing her to heaven. And then the noise of the world came rushing back, people shouting for a doctor and a wheelchair, her bird friend's panicked voices chirping words only she could understand, and she realized that he was the vampire she had seen from the rooftop. She let out a breath she hadn't known she was holding. "You...you saved me." She said, her soft voice barely a whisper.
