Definitely the protagonist, a clever shop clerk who discovers that the owner isn't just a smuggler, but transporting artifacts that will destroy the kingdom. No one believes her, however, so she sets out on her own to stop it.

Early in the game she relies on small tricks and potions, but she learns how to harness her innate magical power for devastating direct attacks when the situation demands it.
