John walked through the corridors slowly and methodically, checking every hallway as he went to make sure that people weren't just standing around. He walked with a tray in his hands that had food and a drink on it, it was typical military food, high in protein and good for you even if it looked horrible. He had been up since o' four hundred hours getting ready for the day. In the last few days he hadn't slept that well as he wrestled with his mind, though he kept to his scheduled of early mornings and working out before heading to grab breakfast, then after breakfast he would grab the Nova's food. He continues walking down the corridors towards the Nova section of the base, most people saluted him as he walked by and he nodded in response. As he reached the Nova area of the base he always took in the fact that there was a significant difference, thick metal doors, higher security, and every one seemed to be extremely on edge as they walked down the halls.
After another minute or so he reached the doors which held the novas, he slowly walked down the line until he reached Hikari's door. He he knocked twice loudly and then 3 times quietly, to signal he was coming into the room. He took his key and turned the large lock, he then pushed the door open and stepped in shutting it behind him immediately. He used to never enter into the Nova's room, after his first bad encounter, but over the last few years he had come to know that Hikari wouldn't last out at him. He took one more step into the room then stood straight looking down at Hikari, "Breakfast time, Hikari, I see you didn't sleep once again, you know that your training suffers if you don't sleep." he said with a cold voice to match his emotionless expression that was glued to his face. As he looked down at her he held back a sigh since he knew she hadn't slept and it showed, but there was no way he knew of to make her sleep comfortably since he didn't want to drug her. He held out the food with one hand and motioned for her to stand and turn around so he could undue her straight jacket so that she could eat. He knew that if he wasn't there she was always tied up, and only when he was in a confined room with her she could be untied and thus she could eat. The ritual was almost like clock work now, and he liked it that way, he took her straight jacket off, she took the food and ate, it almost always worked out like that. He stood waiting and pulling back his emotions, telling himself that he couldn't 'feel' for a nova and that they were weapons, and he kept telling himself that as he stood there waiting.
