The Conclusion

Now that you've walked right up to the door, and curled up your slightly sweaty hand... there's nothing left to do but knock. So you take a deep breath, pull the valentine out of your shirt and hold it out, and knock. *Knock, knock, knock* You slowly lower your hand to you side. You hear footsteps walking closer. A jingle of the door handle and the sweet release of the latch clicking and the door swinging open. A bright burst of light shines through the doorway, blinding you. You raise an arm to shield your eyes, and make out the faint outline of rather familiar hat. It's the Mayor, it must be, and he's brilliant and shining! You are completely speechless, and all you can do is hold out your hand with the valentine, so carefully guarded on this long journey. He removes the card from your hand and you hear a low rumble of thanks before it all goes dark again. The door closes and you turn around in awe. He took your valentine and it was glorious! You stumble away from the manor with a goofy grin on your face, out the front gate and back into the woods, the adventure finally over. Mission accomplished.

Meanwhile back in the manor...
A flashlight rolls onto the floor into a pile of valentines. Next to that is special top hat and a special black cat. "Mrrrrrow" He licks his paws knowingly, giving a smirk only he could possibly give.
