King Edwin could tell that Merida was sad, although, she hid it very well. He sympathized with her... After all, he did lose all of his wives. While, he was eager to marry again, a part of him did miss whatever it was that initially drew him towards them. They all had a certain charm about them, even if their marriages were arranged. This was his chance to pick his own wife for a change; someone who didn't come from royalty, someone who wasn't pompous and proud.

Edwin really, really did not want to let her go. He was in complete awe of her. She didn't seem at all swayed by his gesture, nor did she let his kindness melt her heart right away and neither did she throw herself at him like the other peasant women he'd come in contact with. She was different... and he liked different. He looked at his feet when Merida mentioned that the children's father was dead. He should have known. "I'm so sorry for your loss..." He said.

Sensing her eagerness to leave, Edwin backed away from her slowly to give her some space. He then called for one of his knights, who promptly entered the room, seeking orders. "Please escort Miss Merida back to her home. Make sure that no harm befalls her." It was going to be so painful to see her leave, but Edwin knew, if he wanted her, he'd have her. "I do hope that we can see each other again..." He added to Merida. King Edwin was lonely... again, now that his last wife had disappeared. A part of him wanted to see more of her. He did not want to appear desperate. After all, he was the king, he could easily have any woman in the kingdom. Yet, he found he was very much attracted to Merida. He reached forward and kissed her hand before sending her off with his knight, "Farewell." He said.
