It also means big in Afrikaans. Which makes sense because Afrikaans is made up of Dutch words. And a bunch of other words. But, the point of this story is I studied Afrikaans for 10 year, I know that "groot" means "big"... but I only put 2 and 2 together now when I read *Hime's comment
