Shadami: Nope! It doesn't have to be traditional Japanese foods, or even Japanese foods at all. You could do an Italian/Irish mix, so long as it looks good together. :lol:
And bentos don't have to be separated. But if you really want some things to be apart from others I've seen lettuce used, and I myself have done muffin cups before. (:

Roachi: I'm doing good. Got a busy week going on though. Spent my morning flying, it was supposed to be all day, but one flight got delayed by two hours and I ended up missing my final connection so now I'm hanging around at a hotel spending $5 an hour on internet! 8D I can't wait to see what you come up with!
