Kuroyami "Esuna" Vladamir

The castle was silent as usual, no one else around. It had been this way for awhile now. Years...few souls around to talk to, most that had come, were threats in some way. He could not blame some of them. Those of the house that once stood proudly next door to his own. The house of Cain and Vladamir. They were locked in a struggle that should have died long ago, but those events, had seemed to only be the beginning. They had begun in a war over ideals and thoughts of how to rule. How to use the land that had once belonged to one kingdom.

Because of that, they were at the blade against one another. Both sides suffering as a result. It had been a struggle, one that only worsened when he showed up. In some ways it still felt so surreal, like a dream. In others, it felt like it had only come to pass just yesterday. An elderly man had shown up on their doorstep seeking shelter and food. Alexander had gone to ask his mother, the Lady of the house. He should have known something was amiss when the man asked him that....what would he do with forever? Asking someone that question was not normal.

He had brushed it off, though he had not really gotten to answer before the Lady came down and agreed to give him shelter and more. Sighing, crystal blue eyes opened. Taking in the early morning sun, he watched as it rose over the mountains off to the side of the estate. A frown teased his handsome features, as a light breeze brushed through snow white hair. He glanced off towards the road that led up towards the castles. He had been here for so long. Watching, protecting and remaining the knight he had become so long ago. He owed it to the Vladamir house, even if they did not believe it he had to do this.

Immortals.....that was what they called them. Monsters....Vampires....Beasts...All of these terms were natural to them. Even if they had these abilities, much of the rumors that had gone around and even now plagued the house were false. They were immortal in the sense they could not die by age, wound, sickness, poison or anything really. But they still felt pain. Sometimes that was all he had to remind him that he was still actually alive...that he still had a soul and the ability to feel at all. Sighing, he turned away from the balcony. Currently he was in the old Cain Lord's bedchambers. Long since abandoned. Across the way sat the Vladamir castle.

The two were scarcely a short horse ride from one another. That was one of the reason they had been the source of so much feud. The land had been split down the middle. The Cain had the water, a lake and a river that ran to the ocean. The Vladamir had had the main trade route roads pass through their land. Among other things, these had caused trouble for both. So many things had set this up, but it was in one night that the true struggle between the houses was set off. Since then...things had only festered. Even now, while it might seem calm, he knew that within the world, this feud was far from over. Walking down the steps, his boots echoed upon the stone below him.

He was silent as he made his way down to the foyer. There was no reason to stay here, not really. After his scan, he could head home....if he could really call the Vladamir castle that either. Giving one final glance, he noted that it was neat and clean within. He was not a monster, it was his task to watch over and take care of the castles. So he made sure that they were at least looked after enough to be cleaned while he guarded them. Pausing outside the door, he felt another breeze. This one brushing more across the exposed skin of his abs. It felt good, the castles not air air conditioned like he had heard some of the modern buildings were. He turned to head back to the Vladamir castle, blade at his side.

The sun felt good as well, but nothing could erase the silence. He knew this land was stained with blood from both sides. It was once bustling with life despite this...and now....he would give anything to be back there. At times, perhaps he would give anything to be allowed eternal sleep. He stopped between the two realms, looking off towards the road once more. He was expecting a delivery later on today. At times, someone from one of the cities a ways off would come out to take his orders. He could not die from hunger or thirst, but it was nice to keep some things normal. The same with sleep. At the same time, the delivery often brought news and books...things to slate his curiosity of the world beyond.

The one who usually came to assist him knew of the legends, knew of him. It had been an accident really, he had come accross the man in an accident at the edge of the grounds after a walk one night. He had assisted the man, bringing him back to the home. The rescue had required him to put himself through fire and harm. Unfortunately for him, the human remembered it. Wondrous at how he had obtained no severe burns as a result. He would not leave it alone, even when he was good to leave. Finally however, he had allowed it to drop. He had come back though, with things for him. At first Kuroyami had refused it, but the man stubborn. He kept returning over and over.

Finally Kuroyami gave in. Allowing the man his peace and assistance. He learned the man had a daughter but no other family. In saving his life, he had helped a girl not have to lose her only family. He relaxed after this, allowing the man to come and go as he pleased. Perhaps it was because he knew what it was like to lose one's family. To be taken in and given that once more...he would have been devastated had anything happened to them. Perhaps that was why when the attack on Alexander had happened, it affected him so much. Why he was so loyal... Sometimes the man brought his daughter.

She did not seem afraid of him. Both swore never to reveal about him to anyone. For this he was thankful. But he still felt ill about putting them in the thought that they had to help him. He was a monster in some ways he supposed. For it was not only the land that was stained with blood. He still had nightmares when he did allow himself to sleep. Frowning once more, he pushed such thoughts from his head, finishing his trip to the Vladamir castle. Closing the door, he thought of making some tea.
