Hank had finished railing on Luke by the time they arrived at the general store, but mainly because the pair had returned to the usual insults and complaints that passed for conversation between the two of them. Hank and Luke were friends, really, they just had a strange way of showing it, and their constant chatter wore on Silas's nerves. While they argued over what food to buy, he stepped out of the general store and onto the comparatively quiet main street of town. 'Main Street' was an overstatement, he supposed. It was really the only street in town.
The sun shining on blonde hair across the street caught Silas's eye, and he saw Lydia standing just outside the apothecary. A glance over his shoulder confirmed that Hank and Luke would be occupied a bit longer, and he strode across the street. The teacher's eyes were closed, and she looked exhausted. "Miss Ivy? Are you feeling well?"
