"Treason? What of you, consorting with a commoner?" Asima laughed, nearly hysterical. It was true, and she had no doubt Nemiah could and would do just that. Even if they both told their stories to their father, Nemiah was his rightful heir, the male. She would be cast aside...Everything she'd done for her family, the years of studying, of practicing. It really didn't mean anything at all. The woman felt her legs trembling and she pressed further against the wall to hold her frame up. Her chocolate eyes were staring at Nemiah, though they seemed sightless.

Asima's voice came in a whisper, "Nemiah, the Prince of the Nile...." Another short laugh, although this one was much quieter, "You can get away with anything...You fool around, knowing the world will be yours someday, and don't even think of those consequences..." Asima shook her head, "You will be punished, Nemiah. Egypt will fall down on your shoulders, even I don't tell Father the things you've been doing...You are a fool." Her eyes hardened, focusing on her brother now, the times they played together as children forgotten. "Even if I fail, even if you become Pharaoh, the gods and goddesses will punish you." She spat down, just missing her brother's feet. "Set take you, Nemiah... May he take you and realize the foolishness you've done..."

The princess pushed off the wall and past her brother, once more heading for the palace. Whether or not Nemiah informed their father, she needed some items. Her legs shook, barely holding the girl's frame as she made her way through the crowd, unspilled tears threatening to fall. When had it all gone wrong? She didn't hate Nemiah...He was a fool, but he was her brother...How could they have been torn apart this badly? They had been close, long ago, before the studying, before the Throne of Egypt and what it really meant had become clear to her.
