Like DJ said you don't have to play the games if that doesn't interest you. Just chat it up in some different threads and you can earn a bunch of tokens to spend on the event rare items and the event common items in the special event store under the shops tab. The commons will still be available after the event ends but the rares will not so you might want to focus your efforts on them. They usually come out one per day with the exception of the first and last day of the event.
