There were sounds at the edges of the path he took, the path itself was barely discernible but it was there. Hungry things watched them pass from the shadows, glowing red eyes, glowering and angry. Whatever the creatures were, and there were several different ones, did not seem too inclined to approach closer to this tall being and the girl he carried. Despite the alluring scent of raw meat that emitted from the sack on his bag.

The male seemed rather unconcerned with these creatures, and barely glanced in their directions. They knew what he was, and he knew what they were. Hunger and rage drove most of them, and sometimes they would foolishly attack him, but for now they seemed to only want to watch. He grit his teeth just slightly as the girl began to stir in his arms, shifting her just slightly for a more comfortable grip.

He said nothing to her, merely looked down at her face and gave the slightest of smiles. They were nearly there. Something stepped onto the path behind him, a lumbering, large creature. The man didn't look over his shoulder at it, for he had already stepped within the boundary of the Tavern's property. The creatures of the Shadowlight could not approach so close to the building.

An ancient magic held them at bay, protected the building and those lucky enough to find their way to it. The slight smile turned to a smirk, he felt the magic settle over him, most couldn't feel it, but the particularly sensitive could. It was like a gentle blanket fell over him, enveloping him in a protective embrace and he welcomed it, as he always did. This was his home.

They had approached the back of the building, and it still took a few minutes more of walking to actually reach the establishment. The door was unlocked, and he pushed it open easy enough to reveal a large room. This was the storage room at the back of the tavern, another doorway was across from them. That doorway led to the kitchen, and beyond that was the area behind the bar and the rest of the tavern.

A large man, a half-orc was rummaging around in the storage room, he stopped and turned when that door had opened. For the briefest of moments the tall man held the girl easily with only one arm as he removed the sack and his cloak with the other. The sack was given to the half-orc and the two spoke to each other in orcish for a brief moment and then both arms were around the girl again.

Out of the storage room, through the kitchen, into the bar area of the main tavern area, and then past the bar. He carried the girl over to a table that was half covered in shadow, a slender male with a hood hiding his face already sat there. The girl was placed in the chair closest him. The two spoke in elvish for a few moments, then the man that had carried the girl turned to her and smiled softly. "Some stew is being prepared for you, my friend here will look after you until you feel you're strong enough to handle yourself. Careful though, kitten, this is a dangerous land you've wandered in to." He went back the way he had come, disappearing off into the kitchen.
