Adam told himself this time would be the last time. This was the same promise he made to himself he made the last time this happened. He'd nearly been discovered and so, had to drop his life where it was and start fresh in another country once more. It was lonely nights like these that he desperately missed her.

The thing he hated the most about leaving his old lives behind and picking up a new one was that he had to leave behind his music every time, only carrying with him one or two instruments. He had a fondness for music, after all, being a musician was in his blood. His most previous feed, (that was rather sloppy and almost cost him his life) made him realize that he needed to be more careful. Should he feed again without properly disposing the body, he'd certainly be caught.

Adam played this song a million times before, he knew every note as though it were burned into his mind. He didn't even need his sheet music. It didn't take long for him to be hired by a little French pub to play some live music for people to dance to. Adam didn't consider himself to be much of a singer, but he could carry a tune and play the piano beautifully. Well, he should, after all, he spent centuries studying music in all forms.

He played and allowed the music to wander, through the open door of the pub, into the near empty streets of Calais. Sometimes he wondered why he did this to himself, then he remembered, being a musician is what helped keep him fed for centuries. After all, he enjoyed drinking the women the best and they flocked to anyone who could play a piano and sing a few songs about romance and lost loves. In another hour or so, the pub would close and he'd bring a lovely French woman home, drink her and go to sleep.

Still, he couldn't say he didn't love his work. Playing music was what he loved. His French wasn't too bad and as he sang he eyed the dancing folks with hungry eyes, trying to figure out which one would be the one he'd pick. Though he was lonely, singing and playing was something that made him feel much closer to her than anything else in the ever-changing world.
