Jensen didn't mean to avoid the boy's question but he just didn't know how to answer the question. He had a feeling if he just tried to go with the trite 'I help people,' approach that Tristan would just have more questions and want specifics. And there was no way in this world, at least for now and if he could avoid it, that he was telling this sweet, happy boy about the things he saw and had hunted in his life.

Jensen had never had a choice about it. He had been slammed into this world of knowledge unwillingly and without a choice. He would never do that to another soul alive if he could help it. And he certainly wouldn't let anything happen to Tristan or Ian. Even though he barely knew them, he found that already he didn't think his heart could take it if something happened to either of them. Which is why if he was smart, he would teach Ian how to avoid hunters and hit the road before someone else he loved...err cared about...another innocent got hurt because of him.

He smiled as he watched Ian and Tristan interact, feeling his heart grow light as he watched them. He wished he could be a part of a family like this, talking about benign things like a bath over breakfast. He wanted a family, people to share his life with. It was his deepest longing and biggest dream; give him a life and family and he would be happy. He would happily take this family and this life but he brushed away that thought, reminding himself that Ian only saw him as an ends to a mean and a necessary evil.
