Three Card Spread- A simple spread used for 'past, present, future' readings.
Horse-Shoe (or Seven Card Spread)- reads, 'past, present, helping your question, obstacles, attitudes of others, a path, possible outcome. This spread is more specific and is USED WHEN THE QUESTIONER HAS A QUESTION
