Just overall.
To be fair, the XIII trilogy is unique in that you don't really HAVE to play the other two games -- if you just play the first one, that's one ending. But if you play the other two, you eventually get to the canonical other ending. Both are happy, though.
I dunno if I could explain it in any real detail other than that, though. You'd have to play all three games to maybe see what I mean...
