If I remember correctly, it was mentioned in the opening naration that Leon saved Mathias life once during battle, that was when their relationship began. :3
Oh, yesh! Alucard dyed his hair black. That somehow made his resemblance to Mathias even more prominent.

The thing that made it stuck in my mind was that it came out of the mouth of a GUY. MALE. I just HAD to remember that. XD
I actually think they did the translation on like this on purpose. They probably thought it would make a nice paradox. It just sounded plain wrong. lol
