The song birds sung their morning song gleefully as the sun began peaking through the trees of the large estate. The sun hit a large deck, one set of double doors open, the white curtains flowing with the outside breeze. Sitting just barely in the shadow, shadows that were quickly chased away by growing sunlight, there sat a woman. She sat on her knees, her body clad in a fine red silk kimono with a white obi. Her small hands were carefully laid on her lap, the tips of her fingers nearly touching a small ceramic mug before her.

The fabric moved slightly under gentle breaths as the woman lifted her head to meet the heat of the morning sun. Opening her eyes to meet the light, eyes the color of fire seemed to challenge the sun in terms of power. It was going to be a good day, the sun was warm and the breeze agreed to take that warmth with it, to pass it among the rest of the populace. The warmth told her of good times to come, even in these days of chaos. "Soon you will be rescued," she whispered to herself before gathering up her mug and setting it on the stand near the far door.

She returned to the outside doors to close them after stepping onto the deck. The sound of her wooden sandals echoed as she walked across that solid stone-like deck, its white color contrasting greatly to the green grass that started as soon as the deck ended. As she neared the main part of the estate, a elderly voice called from within, "Are you heading out, my dear Lily?"

The look on the woman's face warmed as she turned to see the elderly woman that sat on an old wicker rocking chair, a white blanket she was knitting draped across her lap. Normally fierce eyes warmed instantly as she walked up to the woman, placing a warm hand on her shoulder, planting on kiss on the woman's head. "Yes, Mimi," she replied softly calling the elderly woman by the name she had requested when she first met.

Ruby had awoken in this estate, her stone had been fixed into a lovely necklace, her stone having been the center piece. The estate belonged to a rich elderly couple that did not seem put off by her sudden appearance. They had lost their only daughter when she was still very young so they insisted that the woman live with them and be like a daughter to them. Ruby could feel the desperate want of having a child to pamper and though she was far older than they and appeared the age of an adult, she agreed for they looked to her for help. A few years back, the old man had passed and in her time alone, his now widowed wife spends her time talking to Ruby and knitting items that she insists will be for her grandchildren that the red headed woman will have for her. Of course, this was decided by the woman without Ruby's approval.

"I shall return with beautiful flowers for you today," she whispered, placing her forehead against the woman's temple. "The weather is offering good news and flowers will help thank the sun for this gift." The old woman planted a hand on Ruby's, gripping it tightly as she beamed up at her. "You are always so thoughtful my dear Lily. Be careful and do not stay out too late." Ruby simply nodded before cutting through the living area that the old woman was seated and out the front door.

The estate in which Ruby lived was well known in the city, the couple had also been very involved with the community when they had the energy too. Now, Ruby helps keep their appearance up by making frequent trips into town. Even with the hot sun beaming down, the woman felt right at home in the heat and in the constricting kimono.

She walked down the street, far fewer people passing confused glances at the woman that seemed to be in the wrong era, far less than when she first woke. There were those that did not understand how she could still dress like that after so many years, but mostly the looks came from tourists or people just moving into town.

Her wood sandals continued to clack on the sidewalks as she entered the heart of the downtown area. She would have to visit the fabric store to see if new silks had arrived, she would buy them and request the woman to make her some new garments. She would also retrieve new yarn for her, as the woman seemed to enjoy the idea of 'Lily' giving her grandchildren and Ruby could not break that joy. For now though, she would enjoy her stroll through town as she always did, wondering what the sun had in store for them today.
