I mean, if there's no other love interest that will be ruined (or maybe it would be fun if there was a love triangle) and your partner doesn't mind, go for it. I've had my own characters fall in love before. I did that a lot in my early rp days because my friends didn't write romance. if I wanted it, I had to do it with myself.
