So the shed probably still smells like cabbages to this very day.
Was discussing a parade with a friend on facebook. Usually, they throw beads and stuffed animals and other little things at Mardi Gras parads. Moon pies were big for a time, sometimes other candies. But there are other kinds of parades in Louisiana and they're spoiled to having things to catch. So for St. Patrick's day or other parades that celebrate an Irish heritage, they throw vegetables, like the kinds you'd cook with your corned beef. Cabbages, carrots, potatoes, onions and garlic. Apparently, they've branched out this year and were throwing bananas and pineapples as well as seasoning packets and meal kits. Like, who needs to go grocery shopping when you can go to the food throwing parade?

Anyway, one of the last times we went to one, we caught dozens and dozens of cabbages and other stuff. My mom decided to store them in our brand new shed. But out of sight, out of mind and they went bad out there and the whole shed smelled like cabbages for forever. It probably still does and we haven't lived there in about fifteen years!
