Gone was the rowdy and playful nature of the two of them. The smile left Katarina’s face, leaving an icy mask in it’s place. She didn’t do it often but she could play the Ice Queen quite well. Her glowing silver eyes stalked the wolf like a cat would stalk it’s prey before pouncing. It was fitting since technically she was a cat, a very large cat. But now wasn’t the time to shift.
Caden took a step forward, drawing his sword when the wolf kept staring at Katarina. He was about to take another challenging step when she touched his arm. Inclining his head Caden stepped back.
Drawing the white bow she always carried behind her back she created an arrow made of ice and nocked it when the wolf growled. The whole time she had been stalking the beast with her eyes she figured out what type of elemental he was, metal. She could tell the metal elemental was strong, extremely strong.
The second he leaped she drew back her bow but didn’t release the arrow. The ice elementals eyes narrowed as she studied the other elemental.
In a low tone she spoke to Caden. “I don’t think he’s going to attack her. Your priority is the earth elemental.” Lowering her bow but keeping it nocked she walked forward. Every step she took ice formed under her feet, leaving shining patches in the sun behind her.
Her partner followed behind keeping a close eye on the wolf. Soon the pair were upon the other elementals. Katarina kept the icy look on her face as she stopped a few mere feet away from the metal elemental. “Metal,” she said in acknowledgement. “Why don’t you let Earth go. I don’t think she wants to play with you today.” Her tone was cool, filled with ice. She didn’t want to fight today but it was in her nature to protect others.
