Nineteen year old Leonardo Beauchene sat on the train with his brown and red patterned travel bag in his lap. Even in first class seating, the experience was loud, stuffy, and bumpy. It was his first time ridding on such a metal beast, but after the ferry from France, the ride felt comfortable. As he closed his eyes, trying to rest with what little time remained, he thought back on how this happened in the first place.

Leo was the bastard child of one of his father's foreign mistresses, but due to his mother's affluent family and the money his father left them, he grew up well. All of that changed when his mother came down with a mysterious illness. He never imagined this end, or any world outside of his happy bubble. A little more than a week ago, his mother died, and as the oldest still living at home, Leo became dead weight. It didn't take much thought. The family sent him to live with his British father who immediately enrolled him in a boarding school. Whether he wanted it or not, Leo would follow in his father's footsteps and become a doctor. A small sniffle made out out before he shoved the feeling back down again.

The rocking of the train increased as it slowed. It finally stopped at the station for Winchester where Leo got off. At the gates, his father met him with a curt nod. They did not speak. Out of the corner of his eye, Leo inspected the man he spoke with twice over the last couple weeks and never men. His father stood taller than most and wore a stern look whereas short Leo inherited the blonde floppy hair of his mother. They couldn't have looked more different, and from the way his father walked next to him, he guessed the man would treat him as such.

His father was one of the few with a car in those times which they took through the foreign streets filled with playing kids. They finally came to the gates of Alamein School where Leo would live from now on. His father led the way to the main office to check him in. Words exchanged, questions asked, but even when they spoke, it wasn't like they did so directly and never when alone. Soon, they dropped the two bags that remained from is life into a room with a bunk bed, matching wardrobes and two desks. The bathroom was a simple affair shared by all the resident students with a few other outdoor toilets scattered around. Leo fell onto his bed with a faint goodbye to his father and tried to get used to the idea of his changing life.
