As Trey often did when he had nothing to do, he found himself starting to drift off. He tended to sleep a lot for the simple fact that he did nothing with his life and could think of no ideas to change that. He was just nodding off with the sound of violin and the motion of the boat when a screech jerked him back out of it again. He glanced up and saw Adam lowering the violin. Did something just happen while he paid no attention? Trey looking around, trying to find an explanation, but he saw none. Maybe it was just a mistake. Even vampires as old as Adam surely was made mistakes too, right?

After so much time passed, Adam's response meant nothing to him so for a minute, Trey just stared in hope he would get an explanation. He did not. When Adam turned away, Trey shifted so he got his feet under him properly. Emotions felt thick in the air and he they left him unsettled. Although he made a big deal about following Adam, he stood and wandered away with the ease. Without looking back, he made his way to the other side of the ship where he curled up against a wall and started to drift off again. The air here felt a little more fresh. The warmth of his clothes seemed a little more noticeable.

Ah, it was true after all--a little time spent with others was best followed by a lot of time alone especially if they ceased to entertain him. He wondered once again why he felt the need to follow this other vampire to Paris and just how everything would turn out. He wanted to change and he didn't. But he never one regretted following Adam.
