It was easy enough for Luke to scribble down what he needed from the teachers lecture, it was all familiar to him having just finished the book for the class. Over the next few weeks he would probably sit down and do every problem in the book, something his sister would laugh at him for, but he enjoyed quiet time in his room, and doing school work was easy. Besides, he always ended up having to help her, since she tended to daydream often in class, and he needed to know the stuff to be a decent enough teacher.

He tried to ignore the knots in his stomach as she read the note, hoping she wouldn't be too angry with him. Would she understand the mess of words? He knew his handwriting wasn't the best and while he could write a near perfect essay he apparently failed miserably at apology notes. As she read he kept glancing over, trying to gauge her reaction. Had she smiled? Yes, perhaps he didn't do so bad after all. Take that, Leila, he thought with a sort of smug satisfaction. All his confidence was reduced to ashes at her words. "Funny fellow?" He whispered under his breath, more to himself than her. What did that even mean? He couldn't be funny if he tried, and he had not tried to make anything in that note a joke.

The class seemed to drag on after that, Luke felt a bit embarrassed about the whole situation and couldn't wait to grab lunch and go hide in his room, seeing as how he didn't have another class for a few hours. A commotion at the door caught his attention and he groaned to see Leila there, a big grin on her face as she pointed to him then to the girl next to him. The other students looked up as well, but thankfully the teacher was focused on the board and not at her. Why was she even at the door? She should be in class. He frowned and waved his hand, trying to get her to go away but she continued to look in at him. His plans for a quiet lunch were now more than likely ruined.

When the class was finally dismissed, the teacher calling an end to his lecture, the door all but burst open as Leila charged in. It wasn't that uncommon, the teacher only shot Luke an annoyed look then went about his business. "You moved seats." She pointed out with a knowing grin, smacking him on the back. "Leave it alone, Lei." He grumbled, trying to pull her towards the door before she could make things any worse. "Wait! Did you invite her to come to lunch with us?" She asked, knowing that he hadn't. "Oh, please say you'll join us for lunch?" Leila asked Myriam all the while Luke worked on dragging her towards the door. "It'll be fun!" She added with an encouraging smile.
