Well, it WAS the 80s you know. And I may be wrong, but I've always seen it as the type of movie that was aimed for more of the young crowd.(I was about 8 years old when I first saw it and instantly fell in love with it from that point on) Labyrinth fanatics, who take the time to read up on the movie, know that the movie pretty much flopped, but it still remains a cult classic. It will definitely always be my favorite movie.
