“Look at the size of that thing!” Salvete gasped aloud. All the defenders had once again taken to the rampart. Having missed the early morning fight, several of the defenders were shocked at the size of the golem stuck dazed between the palace gates.

“Where are all the little guys?” Damia asked no one in particular.

“I think that thing IS the little ones!” Dragoness stated emphatically. Sure enough, when they all looked closely at the body of the golem, they could just make out the outlines of dozens upon dozens of little golem bodies.

“This is gonna be… An EPIC fight!” Elirona shouted, jumping up and down in excitement. His buff demons were already surrounding him but Eli would likely see the need to summon more of the ripped blue skinned ice demons.

As if on cue, the giant golem let loose a piercing shriek. It was so intense it caused the defenders clap their hands to their ears in pain. With a great rumble, the golem heaved mightily against the palace gate pillars. A dull crack reverberated though the ground as one of the columns begain to tilt little by little until it toppled over away from the shoving golem. Freed from it’s confinement, the golem shook it’s head about, clearing away the lingering effects of the confusion spell. Tiny golem bodies came loose as it did so, flying though the air to splat on the ground.

“Here it comes!” Yelled Salvete, running to take her position on the wall. The rest of the defenders took up their positions, preparing to strike against the massive golem

“Ice Shard!” Angie yelled, not wasting any time to attack. Aiming for the golem's nearly severed arm, her spell streaked off towards the golem, striking the remining tendrils of tiny golems that were were keeping the arm attached. The shards ripped though the tiny bodies like tissue paper and the great arm came loose from the Giant golem, falling to the ground with a great thud, squashing the now lifeless bodies of tiny golems. A cheer went up as the arm fell, invigorating the defenders.

“Aim for the weak spots!” Shadami shouted over the cheering. Gathering her magic about her, Shadami cast her spell, summoning a great ice demon. It’s body made of of long, thin and razor sharp chunks of ice, Shadami shouted, “Attack!” As she directed the demon towards the legs of the golem. Bounding off the ramparts, the demon ran towards the golem and began slashing at the lower legs of the golem.

“Great idea Shadami!” Taiyo hollered from her side of the wall. Casting her own spell, Taiyo also summoned a demon, a short but stout creature on 4 legs with great horned blades attached to its’ head. It looked like a rhino with blades for horns. “Attack!” Taiyo shouted, directing her demon to double team the legs of the golem with Shadami’s own ice creature. The rhino demon simply walked off the rampart and tumbled to the ground, landing on it’s feet with a reverberating thud. Lowering it’s head, the rhino demon charged the golems giant shins.

The golem bellowed in pain as the two demons attacked it’s legs, each attack causing it to stumble. With great long swings of it’s remaining arm, the golem swatted at the demons with little avail. It was now half way to the wall and the defenders were getting worried.

“Dragoness! Lets attack his eyes and see if we can’t blind it!” Damia suggested.

“Great! I’ll take the right eye, you take the left!” Dragoness replied, as the two of them prepared for a dual assault on the golems giant, looming face. Gathering their magic, the both of them Cast their ice shard spell. The golem was so close now, there was no way they could miss!

Their ice shards tore into the flaming eye sockets of the golem, sending billows of steam rolling out of them. The golem flung it’s hand up to shield it’s face, the remaining barrage of ice shards pelting into its’ giant hand as it continued to stumble forwards blinded by the ice shards

The defenders attacks continued, taking chunks of smaller golems out of the giant golem. As it stumbled the last 10 yards to the wall in 3 great steps, driving its’ damaged shoulder against the wall.

Elirona and Salvete stood stunned, staring as the golem stood back up straight, giant pumpkin head level with the top of the rampart wall. Swinging it’s great arm up in an arc, the golem swept it across the rampart wall, knocking supplies and chunks of snow wall everywhere. Eli and Salvete dove for cover, narrowly avoiding the blow from the golem.

“That’s not playing fair!” Eli shouted, dusting off his cloak.

“I think it’s time for some pay back don’t you Eli?” Salvete asked. Taking up covered positions, Eli and Salvete cast their demon summoning powers. Eli added several more buff demons to his collection, crowding the top of the rampart wall with more than a dozen buff blue demons. “Leave room for me Eli!” Salvete squeaked, nearly crushed against the wall by the press of muscular bodies. Her own demon army had popped into existence above their heads, all bone and sinu with razor sharp claws and leathery ice blue wings.

“Attack!” They shouted together and their respective demons rushed the giant pumpkin head. Salvete was nearly trampled by the press of hard, buff demon flesh but managed to hold onto the edge of the wall. Her own demons flapped away, streaking towards the Demon as they dive bombed it’s head. Raking their claws along the pumpkin flesh, they rent deep gashes where smoky flames began to lick though. Meanwhile Eli’s demons like giant monkeys, clung to the body of the golem, ripping and tearing chunks of smaller golems away from the main body.

The defenders gave it their all, Angie, Damia and Dragoness shot the golem through with shards of ice, managing to slice off the golems other arm. Shadami and Taiyo’s demon tag team was able to ham string the golem’s spindly legs and it collapsed to it’s knees before toppling over backwards, crashing to the ground. The attacks from Salvete’s and Eli’s demons tore into what little remained of the golem’s head and body as it writhed on the ground.

They didn’t stop attacking until the golem lay still at the foot of the walls. Spent and exhausted, they ended their spells, letting their demons and ice shards disappear in a poof of magical ether, Eli making sure to hang onto a few of his blue skinned buff demons. No one spoke as they caught their breath, too exhausted even to congratulate one another or even to cheer.

Madame Suliman walked out of the palace doors and called to the defenders on the ramparts. “Well done everyone! You have saved the Kingdom from the threat of the pumpkin headed golems! We are forever in your debt!” Madame Suliman led the weary troop of defenders into the palace for a well earned meal, rest and relaxation.

The next day, all the court apprentice magicians worked their magic to clean away the bodies and debris from the fight with the golems. They were done in short order and once the streets were clear, a parade was organized to celebrate the brave heroism of the defenders of Ingary!
