in theory the background should match, yes. the rules say it has to be all of fire colors or all of water colors. i won't disqualify any user if their background doesn't match the color scheme yet their avatar does but the chances of winning will be slimmer

everyone can edit their entry until it's entered on the front page and after that the user has to PM one of the three hosts, not all three! xD, to get their submission changed
so if you feel like you can help others out in thread or wherever that's totally fine
