Cons can be boring especially if you don't have friends to go with. Last year was the first time I went to any panels. I found a couple that interested me and that made the whole trip worth it. Although I did enjoy other things about the con too. As for art, not all of it is fan art. There are original artists too including web comic artists and creators.
