The world was created by a great being long ago, one which looked upon earth as a beacon of hope and potential. In order to have a greater influence and to be closer to the world that they had brought into existence, the being split itself and its' power into twelve other beings. These beings were each granted a name and power under one of the twelve celestial gems, that would later become known as birthstones for man kind. Each had their own power and special weapon, that went along with their given gem. Some took the form of men, while others women. Their position was to stand as guardians, to guide the world and its people as evolution advanced.

They were seen as gods and goddess' among the world, people paid them respect and loved them. They took high pride in their work, and though their personalities at times clashed, they all did their best to uphold their protection of the world. However, a darkness unforeseen by the great now that it had fractured itself, being soon reared its' head. It sought to claim the power of the twelve for its own, to corrupt them and the world they protected. The twelve stood their ground, protecting the world as they were tasked. Together they were strongest, united their powers were amplified to that of the origional being itself.

Eventually, they thought they had wiped out the darkness, pushing it back into the depths. Things were plesant, the world in harmony. For the twelve however, the more the world evolved, the less people looked to them for guidance. People who had once looked to them as gods and goddesses, now shunned them, and acted like they did not need their wisdom, that they did not exist. The twelve made a decision, to fall into a slumber. Each taking on the form of the very gem that they had been named after, letting the world and people decide for itself. They decided to have faith in the people, to give them a chance to choose their own path.

Little did they know, that the darkness they had thought they got rid of, still lived, and now began to plant its' seeds. It formed strong roots over time in businesses and other influential areas as the world grew, getting stronger over time. Powerful dark people, began to take up powerful positions. Now in the current century, something is awakening the twelve from their slumber. Some earlier than others, but soon all twelve will be awakened. The darkness has a tight grip on the modern world, turning people into cold and untrusting people. Manipulating them like pawns.

Their reach and power is stronger now than ever, and their plans have not changed. They know the twelve are waking, they still want their power. They will stop at nothing to corrupt them, and plunge the world into eternal darkness.
