I'm sure I'm butchering the name, but I think the first one I saw was Roruni Kenshin. I was pretty disappointed because I thought anime was this amazing sub-culture and it was going to draw me right in and make me a part of that world, but instead I was bored.

Then I discovered Inuyasha on Adult Swim. That one was MUCH more to my liking! I still haven't seen the entire series but at least at one time it had been on Netflix and I did get to watch the first episodes.

My wife is the big anime fan in our house. She got me into Chobits, which I thought I would hate but actually loved a lot. I also loved Angelic Layer, but my wife only had part of the series on DVD so I haven't gotten to see it all. We watched Princess Tutu and that was adorable. Death Note may be my very favorite, though! I love the movies, the anime, and even the Netflix movie. (Yeah, the acting was terrible, but I didn't think the overall movie was as bad as other Death Note fans seem to feel.)
