Mannik had leaned forward, scooting just a bit closer to the female. He wanted to wake her up. A good wake up. Something that would make her smile, and reach her eyes. His hand was reaching out, hovering above her, and Mannik intended to brush a strand of escaped hair behind her ear. A bomb hit and exploded outside, however, and Mannik jerked his hand back. His gaze went to the window without noticing Adelmar had woken.

He darted to it, staring outside, and watching in horror as bombs began to go off. About ready to take Adelmar out of the building, he was relieved the bombings stopped and the ships landed. People hadn't expected a raid today, however, and there were people out and about.

Mannik couldn't tell if the shots were lethal, but it seemed like the soldiers from Above opened fire on Below. "Mom...." Mannik's voice was pained. He never called Commander Imhoff that, not to her face, and had only whispered the word before falling asleep when he was younger. He hadn't know if the Commander would have liked it or not. But, she had raised him, and they had a bond. She was his mother, it just wasn't through blood. Commander Imhoff was in sight, and the female was quickly gathering her hair up, two children around her legs, holding her clothing tightly. She was stuffing it into her cap in an effort to make it less noticeable, since the soldiers were advancing. He watched as a group of them, including the Commander, were herded and trapped.

They was clearly some sort of exchange, and one of the men fell to the group. Anger boiled inside of him. The soldier had obviously disobeyed orders, and was being sent back, however, Mannik didn't care. He'd shot one of theirs. He needed to die. Mannik lifted his gun, taking careful aim, and shooting the soldier. His gun shifted slightly. He had no idea who was who in the group of soldiers, however, he'd take as many of them down as he could. He couldn't let anyone else from Below get hurt today. They especially weren't going to kill the woman who had raised him. He aimed for the middle of the group, watching another man drop to the ground after rushing one of the men.

Mannik aimed carefully, then shot into the middle of the group, sparing a glance afterwords to Adelmar. "G-get away from the window." He commanded. His voice caught, for once revealing how shaky the soldier felt.
