It was early spring, but in Ryan's mind the only difference between winter, spring and autumn in this concrete and glass labyrinth was the amount of muck-up on the streets. In summer, sun chased some of the grayness away, but it didn't last long. Not on the lower levels, at least.

He pulled the hood deeper over his head, slightly grimacing as rain drops hit his face. It wasn't that he was sensitive to things like that, years of living on street numb you down in many aspects. He was simply annoyed at the reason why he had to be out here. And since she wasn't here yet, the man found other things to direct his annoyance to.

But that was slightly unfair, that girl, Soph, wasn't so much the reason as his bosses were. If it wasn't her, it would be something else. Someone else. That's how life is. At least this wasn't a dirty task. In fact, he had been told multiple times (at 4th time, he just tuned the instructor out) that they wanted her alive.

Funny guys those Zofies were, giving him all these fancy gadgets. For scanning her, tracking her, following her... Finding him expendable, yet trustworthy, since most of the devices were still in experimental, not fully tested stage. It all made Ryan laugh bitterly on the inside and in truth, he wasn't even sure he believed all that time and dimension travelling thing.

And there she was, or at least someone who fit her description close enough. Ryan stood up from the metal bench, adjusting the backpack thrown on one of his shoulders and began moving towards her. He just had to pass her by, get a scan with his bracelet (he had been assured it wouldn't be noticeable), and leave, to get back on her track some minutes later. Park was a good place for this, people walking in different directions didn't raise much suspicion, even when all the greenery was bare like now.

Besides, he did look awfully regular, in his dark jeans, worn shoes and jackets with hood shadowing his face and hiding the notable features - nearly colorless eyes and white hair. Even if she would notice him, he knew of ways to slip her attention afterwards and for sure, his knowledge of alleys and streets was larger than hers, giving the man a considerable advantage. Or so he thought.
